An ode to truck drivers

How many times have you been frustrated by getting stuck behind some obnoxious Semi, raising your blood pressure until at last!...the passing opportunity arrives? This may be all well and good for us regular drivers, but do we really deserve to be upset with them?
Trucks have many different uses. Anything from replenishing supplies to relocating mobile homes to smuggling illegal aliens. Trucking is one of the life bloods of industry, and the people who drive them deserve a special round of applause.
I don't know about you, but I've seen far fewer trucking accidents than car accidents, which says something considering how big and cumbersome they are to operate. Not to mention the very act of driving itself. We all know that driving on long trips can be one of the most mundane and boring tasks on the face of the planet. Now imagine doing it, all day, every day, for 30 years. Always restricted to eating out, which is clearly one of the more healthy lifestyles, they are also often daunted with the task of abundant paperwork of receipts and whatnot. (Granted most jobs have paperwork, but come on...driving a truck?)
So next time out you feel your patience wearing thin or feel the need to cut off a slow moving behemoth, let's take a moment to give them the benefit of the doubt? After all, not even you can be perfect all of the time.
